At Zorlu Center, an ambitious construction endeavor in Istanbul, Helvar equipment controls all lighting circuits across the project and Tridium BMS integration is seamlessly enabled by IP Driver to optimize functionality and efficiency.

Şafak Koç, Chairman of Elekon, emphasized that the scale of this project demanded a significant amount of hard work and dedication. He also highlighted the importance of partnering with a company capable of meeting the distinct requirements for each area within Zorlu Center and providing extensive lighting systems infrastructure. Elekon's collaboration with Helvar drew on their experience from successful mixed-use projects in London, the Middle East, Singapore, and other global locations to effectively tackle this challenge.

During the initial project tender, the proposed lighting system was limited to basic switching. However, as the project evolved and conversations with system integrators advanced, it became clear that a more sophisticated solution was necessary for each area of the complex to align with the expectations of the involved lighting designers.

When our client integrated 8.000 Vestel DMX luminaires into the parking lots and outdoor areas, we had to establish a consolidated lighting system that brought together all the elements. With Helvar's 920 routers, we could individually manage each luminaire to meet the energy-saving and control specifications for the parking lots. By interconnecting them and linking with Helvar's Ethernet network, Helvarnet, through BMS installation, we could effectively communicate across the system.

The lighting designer of the project, Mr. Zeki Kadirbeyoğlu from ZKLD Lighting Studio, provided the necessary functionality, lighting levels and scenes to each of the areas. Elekon He worked with. The mall's lighting scheme is designed to enhance the experience of shoppers by controlling and maintaining a comfortable environment. Lighting levels were programmed to adapt to different times of the day in order to provide customers with a pleasant and long-term stroll in the shopping center without feeling tired.

The illumination of the central garden, a vital element in the design by Mr. Emre Arolat and Mr. Murat Tabanlıoğlu, incorporates luminaires that have been intricately programmed to harmonize color transitions as each day unfolds. Kadirbeyoğlu focused on capturing shifting seasons within the theme, while the Helvar system utilizes light-tracking cameras to adjust light intensity based on seasonal variations. The fixtures are coordinated to simultaneously alter both lighting levels and hues according to the time of day and natural light conditions in the garden.

A bright integration

To enhance cost savings through the reduction of energy waste at Zorlu Center, over 1000 Helvar presence-absence sensors have been implemented. By integrating a daylight detection system with presence sensors, this infrastructure delivers optimal results in energy conservation. Throughout the day, the center effectively decreases light intensity of fixtures by measuring natural light levels. In Zorlu Center car parks, floor lighting is set to a safe level of 30%, and when vehicles or individuals are detected, luminaires automatically adjust to provide required functional light.

The comprehensive lighting integration is expanded to the BMS components through Helvarnet, a strong and dependable Ethernet system utilizing Helvar's Tridium-compatible IP driver. This enables each router to transmit and receive commands for the BMS system. The mall, theatre, and Raffles commercial areas are all linked to the central BMS via BACnet . A specially designed visual interface empowers facility teams to efficiently oversee and document system malfunctions, receive email alerts and notifications, activate specific lighting settings, plan events, and track energy usage.
